Give you an idea my gti6 weighed in at 995 (1/4 tank) but has at least 30kg of cage in. Amazing what lexan and FG panels will get you. Figure you could get another 70-80kg out...
Well that is a lot more lost than I was expecting tbf!

I can't see where the weight was though? That's like 2 large peoples weight! Tyred cyclones are only 10kg each for some perspective! Confused
That's good man. Not far to get sub 1000 which would be awesome. Get the hole cutter on the panels

I really wouldn't without a cage in there, the weight loss is negligible with that method anyway.


TBH, with the amount of torque it has weight wouldn't have been a great concern for me.
Nah not cutting more holes without a full cage.

Yeah. On it. Got 4 fat spacers too which are pretty heavy

Got some bits to go in too, so hoping with lexan windows and FG bonnet we can hover around the 1000kg Smile oh and about 15litres of fuel

Bung some Citroën c5 alloy steelies on they're pretty light
So the question is are you going any further. Or was this done on a budget just to prove it can be done. Which is also good.
Cyclones with tyres are a hell of a lot more than 10kg each, especially with something like a p6000

Guess my scales are a bit off then, I've weighed plenty of 'clones for postage at roughly 10kg, What should they be?
Just mention them as the standard tyres - more like 16-17...

A C5 steel is about half the weight of a cyclone

Can't weigh as much as a Laser... Pretty sure they're made of cast iron with an alloy skim... lol

I do wonder how they make some wheels so heavy tbh. Bought a Golf on some 18" Audi rep's a couple of years ago...could barely lift them! Made a nice chunk of money on ebay though lol.

This diet was the budget bit. 

Next is how much I can sell/save to buy lighter wheels and lighter windows/panels!

And a cyclone is 9kg plus the tyre! So no less than 15 per wheel.
A C5 steelie thingy is 4.7kg...tyre weighs more than the wheel!
You can buy polycarbonate for windows really cheaply mate and you only need 3mm, maybe 4mm.

Cyclones are 8.8kg without tyres, lasers are 10.2kg without tyres. A Cyclone with a 195/55R15 P6000 is 15450g, a 15" steel spare with a 195/55R15 P6000 is 16800g so C5 steels will save you 16.4kg over clones and 21.8kg over standard steels.

Oh and weights for 3 door rear windows:
Rear window glases (pair) = 4100g
Rear window seals (pair) = 1060g
Rear window plastics and bolts = 100g
Polycarbonate windows (pair) = 1240g
Rear window difference = 4020g

£35 for a sheet of 3mm Polycarb for the better suff
C5 steelie/alloys, or something like pro race 1's will be nice and light compared to the wheels you have on at the moment.
Polycarb in the pipeline as is a bonnet.

My GTI6, with a carbon bonnet, and lexan windows was 947kg on the corner weighting machine .... And I still had a dashboard and wiring!
Pretty impressive weight saving tbh - just needs a cage now and some redistribution of weight towards the rear - stick another engine in the back maybe?

On another note, piggy, it might be worth having it weighed more accurately, although you will never be able to weigh its orignal weight but we know roughly given stock weights etc...

Scrapyard scales are not massively accurate from what I can see, we have used them before to weigh gross weights of our grain trailers etc, With 6-7 tonne of them two of our local ones were different by nearly 400kg, so could EASILY be 30-50kg out down at that weight IMO..

Thing you have to remember, is is it really worth it to you to have annoying windows / lack of heaters / de misters etc, JUST to get down below 1000kg?

IMO loose some weight on wheels / brakes and leave it alone if you want to carry on driving it all the time...
