Full Version: My brake pedal is intermittently going hard!

Hi guys,

So yesterday on my way home from work the brakes were fine then all of a sudden when I went to brake the pedal was rock solid and I had to press really hard to brake and it had little effect. Luckily I just stopped in time. I have taken it out again today and it was fine at first but then happened again. It feels the same as when you pump the brakes with the engine off. I have tried pumping the brakes with the engine off and then starting her up with my foot on the brake, it does compress then. When doing this I could hear a hissing noise when pumping the pedal. On Thursday night I had to drive through a really deep puddle due to the weather I took it slowly and everything seemed fine then and after on the way home but as I said it now seems to go hard after a couple of minutes driving, does it the once and then its fine again.

Any ideas?

Cheers, Tom.
as i said in chatbox sounds like servo issue

either seal at master cylinder, push rod seal or you have a vacuum leak

Cheers pal. Garage visit it is then.
let us know how it goes
possibily a split vacuum hose or, if its derv, a dodgy vacuum pump.
Giggety.

But yeah, servo or vacuum hose.
