who uses cbs on here ? was talking about it a little on another thread but didnt want to clog it up so thought i would start this one ... seems a few people want to use them but arent sure how easy they are. If anyone else has pics of their ariels or rigs in/on the car then that would be great.
I want to but the mahoosive ariel puts me off tbh
I want to get one for the convoy to FCS Smile they look awesome

you can get smaller ariels, about a foot long, which have about a 3 mile range i believe. The shorter ones would still be ideal for convoys ect. And they are legal, unlike talking on the phone.
Why not just use walkie talkies? What me and my mates do when going on long trips in convoy, they have around a 1.5 mile range
so you use these to hook up with other doggers?

because i didnt have walkie talkies in my shed ninja lol and because a few of my mates round here are starting to use cb's ...oh and you dont have to remember to charge a cb ...im pretty forgetful !! haha
So those mahoosive ones have a range of?
I want one for my car lol someone do a guide Tongue

Convoy.... FCS....... This has to be done. Epic lols
4WayDiablo Wrote:So those mahoosive ones have a range of?

roughly 10 miles when you are moving, but when stationary it can be a bit more

haha well i want to fit mine so it looks as though it should be there, and wire it to the radio so it comes on with ignition ect. so when i fit it properly i could post how i've done it ...

got one fitted in mine in the slot above the ashtray
magmount lives in the boot then apears when needed

link?
if you wont pay £35 for a second user set
i dout you will pay £80 for a plug and play setup complete

but its £35 for just the reciver, not the whole setup.
so would cost more for the mount. the speaker, and the antenna
and then the meter to set it up

thats where i intend to put mine. is yours in a din mount or just sitting there ?
its just sitting there had to cut the back of the pocket out and remould the plastic ducting to clear the ariel plug but it fits quite well il get some pics up
small rig in a small hole
darren and ruan have them in their cars
they do but cant hear nothing above 30mph due to stripped out cars found that a problem on the way to FCS
cully Wrote:small rig in a small hole

giggedy ... yeah that looks pretty tidy ..is yours run from the cig lighter ? and how have you run the wires through the car ? i was going to put the coax under the plastics.

power is taken from the back of the cig lighter
the coax is run under the centre console to the back where it comes up behind the seats it needs a longer coax as the estate is quite long
Are the hand held CBs any good? I know they have a shorter range but are they really that flawed?
I have a Midlands rig in mine. With a 5ft whip Big Grin . Runs off my headunit. Was considering selling up, as the person I used to use it with I no longer speak to...
Dum-Dum Wrote:Are the hand held CBs any good? I know they have a shorter range but are they really that flawed?
personally im not sure, i dont think you can pick them up as cheap though but haven't looked into it that much but would be good to have a handheld on cb frequency i guess ! like everything ...it has its place
^^^ The hand held i was looking at had a 1ft ariel and a car charger (with a coax output if you wanted a longer ariel) and was about £100 on ebay brand new.

Might have to get one of these
Channel 15 whenever your in Cornwall Smile

Us crowd are fully equipped Smile

There great for meet convoys etc!
They do look epic, but un-needed for me at the moment.. Someone might convince me though?
