Right this may sound very bizarre,

But I want to create a built in stereo which is a 7 inch tablet in place of a stereo.
I used to work in phones4u and I remember a customer saying he somehow managed to do this in his astra.

I was going to convert the feed that powers the stereo to a connection to charge the device,

I know size wise it could be achievable but would it be impossible to wire all four speakers into a 3.5mm jack

... Radio doesn't bother me, neither does CD player

Or do I need to stop sniffing glue and drinking white spirit cause it gives me crazy ideas

Any suggestions/feedback is appreciated Smile
Impossible no, ambitious yes.
Easy. I did it in my 106. Will post up better details when I'm not at the pub pisses
I think maybe creating a test one outside of the car.. Using some old fli speakers.. Just though it would look really sweet and for me would be very practical.. Casually playing angry birds on the m5 hehe..

Will update depending if I don't blow myself up

Haha win!!

Thanks
nice idea mate, hav a look @ pioneer's new headunit 1st tho, it has the software to play apps on it with less of the hassle of wiring it up that way, i think the headunit is called the "Pioneer SPH-DA100"
hope this helps mate
If I were you I'd look into some sort of quick release system, otherwise theives would have a field day!

Looks very nice, I'm gonna be using my playbook though.. Uses QNX software like the ford connect stereo software, but it would be cool cause as soon as I turn the ignition on it would connect to my works blackberry and load all work emails and customers addresses, which is handy cause I'm a sales rep.

Also cheeky bit of porn on the move Wink

They Bragg about security,... Reason being no fcuker would pinch them
i would surgest making a cable to run to a small 200w amp off ebay, so from a 3.5mm jack to the amp then run the speakers off that.

Epic idea, Thank you!!

That's the way to do it! I was looking for Incar computer. Also had the same idea as you with a tablet but I can build a computer in there for same money.

Just to let you know though. With using a amp going to aux lead and into the tablet using the headphone port you loose the sound quality.
That's one of the reason I chose computer.
The playbook has the ability to split its sound feed into to stereo feeds... What about micro hdmi.. Could I transfer just sound through that?
Not 100% sure mate you'll be best to research is. Another things volume controll. You'd have to go into music app to turn music down if the volume buttons aren't on front. But depends how you mount them. I know you can buy a volume control but don't think it can be fitted to tablets.

Look on mp3car.com everything you need to do it is there.
if you buy the special cables that reduce interference it should help alot!
Well the volume controls are on the top in the centre so maybe when making the surround I can make a groove for easy access ( oooh errr)

Thanks for the link kentiiboii that will really help out

And yeah Joe I'm not gonna bodge it and buy cheap cheap
can you not take a normal 3.5mm jack feed straight to an amp and then put it out to like 4 speakers and a sub? I always thought that the fabrication of some kind of dock would be the hardest. Blatantly has to be android to then use that App where you can read the cars OBD port! Big Grin

Yes but 9/10 the jack port is for headphones. Which for done reason when you plug them into a stand alone sound system the quality drops majorly. Like plugging your phone into the aux port on your stereo.

same when i use 3.5 from phone the quality is better
Update Guys..

Going to purchase this music gateway as a means of connecting my devices to it in the car,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tafjawOV...r_embedded#!

(This device essentially converts a 3.5mm audio jack into a bluetooth signal... also is NFC compatible and its only £40 so i think it would be quite good)

Also this means that i could remove it and still have it playing if i needed to..

It would be a bit awkward trying to mould a surround for the playbook when the headphone slot is mounted on the top right of the device..

MY tablet battery drops 8% for every 3 hours of music through bluetooth so i wont be wiring in a charger.

SO, this will be powered and wired to my amp, my amp then will power my 4 speakers and my sub.. what rated amp would i need?

Also i have my standard surround now.. just trying to find a way to readjust the placement of my knobs (oooo errr) and then i will start fibre glassing it.

I was thinking for a way of holding it in place could being using 4 latex 'moulds' fitted around the mount/surround which have enough give so it can be removed but also hold it secure..

Will update soon Smile
Also how many channels am i going to need... 4 or 5/6 if im wiring fronts, rears and sub?
Skank army has just informed me you may be after a subwoofer? Interested in a Rockford fosgate T2 ?
I bought a passive sub yesterday actually it's an amp I need. Thanks though :-)
On my old car computer, I had a 40w per channel amp and that was spot on. Remember your amp rating needs to be less than your speaker rating
I'm thinking these two as it's cheaper than a 5way amp..

I'm buying a high quality 3.5mm to phono cable, and the two amps I mentioned earlier on

Trouble is I need a 5 Channel but the ratings on them are way too high for what I need!

I'm thinking of upgrading my front speakers now as well.. Could anyone recommend some that they think are good?
Depends on a budget. I've got focal 165vbs which are £130 but worth every penny. They sound so good but have to be amped to get the true potential out of them. Wasted on a HU amp
Awesome idea! I'm currently working on a way to convert my iPhone HU to accept my iPhone 5! It's going to be challenging but fun.
