My hate has a 306 HDI and he said it's very slow and got no boost! Any thing I should check when I go have a look later on? I'm not one for diesels so don't know much about them?
Egr valve maybe stuck open if it's standard. Boost pipe come off if it's got an IC. Potentially dead turbo.
Car is bog standard, there is no smoke so don't think it's the turbo. Wouldn't the EGR bring in engine management light on?
Possibly the maf if there's no smoke. Unplug it and see if it improves.

That and the elbow seal. But they have to be darn bad to really make a difference.
Usually if boost leak it will smoke... So as tom says, does sound like maf
