Hi guys,

I planned on changing my gearbox oil today as when I had my clutch done they replaced it with some boggo standard oil from what has been said. I have the proper peugeot oil but forgot to get a  crush washer and don't know where to get one now. Any chance of re-using the old one? What about ptfe tape on the thread?

Thanks, Jack
Copper washer? Can reuse if you heat it up nice and hot with a blow torch first
Just use a copper washer. They sell them in various sizes in Halfords. Or just dont bother. Dont think mine even has one on at all and has never leaked a drop.
Haha cheers guys Tongue Will get to it then later Smile Thanks

And yeah zx its the copper washer Smile
annealing only works well with solid washers, nothing unique about the size, pugs use 14 or 16 mm on most of their drain/level/pressure etc.

I bought a bag of 50 of each size on ebay for not a lot.
They're ridiculously expensive in Halfords, even with a trade card! If it's only been used once I'd turn it upside down. Tongue They do leak sometimes though, not sure how Niall managed to seal his without any at all.

Oh yeah thats right. I dont run gearbox oil. My logic is if its not there it cant leak on my drive Tongue

Seriously though, dont know what you think is expensive but i bought a box of 200 various sizes on trade for about £5. Didnt think that was TOO bad for halfords lol
Oh, I meant the single copper 'sump plug' washers they do near the oil filters. Presumably OP doesn't want 200 of them lol.
Well im gonna go and have a look up at a farm shop today (didnt think it was open sunday) hopefully serving lots of farmers in the area they will have some copper crush washers but im not holding out much hope yet haha

If not it will be heated up and flipped over the other way haha
I'm pretty sure farm shops sell eggs and sausages lol? Unless yours are different to ours! lol
I get them in bulk off Amazon.
Well I took the bolt out and found no washer anyway :/ and a sticky thick sort of glue on the thread. So I cleaned it up, wrapped it in PTFE tape and used that instead haha. Only time will tell how well that's worked so going to have to keep an eye on it for leaks.

Gearbox feels lovely and smooth now though Big Grin so much easier to change gear.
