So as most of you are well aware I have and still currently own the estate of many engines (2.1, 1.9, 2,0 hdi 2,0 mtdi) however the shell is ropey underneath and to be honest I shouldn't have 2.1ed it let alone the rest of it. So this project in planning to have at fcs this year as it currently stands its not even a car. Its an engine and a half. The plan Was to put this back in mine. However due to the newly found workshop space ill be building a fresh shell ground up. Like it should be done. I'm not even looking for a car right now as I still have to clear some space etc so updates will be slow to begin with. But they will start rolling in as usual in a month or so.
Oh hurry up and find a car!!!

306 projects are useless without a 306.
would of thought this would drop nicely in that kingfisher.
I'll have a phase 3 306 gti6 diablo shell up for sale cheap shortly
Expecting this to be the coolest project thread to date Big Grin
This is how i started....

I've got something in mind for the kingfisher. I always said id explore the m-tdi again a bit more one day. Who knows this might be the shell that goes in. The 2.1 is for my daily transport though.

Thanks for the offer but im not looking yet and wouldn't want a gti anyway. Would want another estate.

Thanks a lot man. Its nice to see people interested in my stuff. Keeps me positive about my projects.

Yeah I remember that. You bought the engine then promptly scrapped the car it was meant to be going in didn't you?
not a bad way to start on with a project
I basically started my whole "thing" by the engine. The 2.1.

Had the 2.1 almost finished by time found the shell lol
So the only progress is i now have two blocks and 1 head. All stripped down ready to be built.
Head and

Spare block. Putting the new head on my old block.
I'd be interested to see if the 12v head could be made to for the 1.9 block.
No idea about valve clearance etc but a 1.9 head fits the other way with modification to oil ways if you have the money to get it done.
How come your using the old block not the new one?
12v head looks really weird, looks like all 3 valves are the same size? Surely that's not equal in and out? Confused

Not sure be worth it tbh.

Its twice the weight/height

Plus more common mods known to improve the 1.9 head

You're dead right.

Equal flow be better...but valve size doesn't always relate
Fair enough, never seen a 12v before lol!

The old block is known and trusted and is very good condition internally already. Taking another block to bits for the hell of it seems a bit pointless. I'll keep it aside just incase I ever did throw a rod. Lol.
You could drop it in my kingfisher if you weren't too dead set on an estate! Would make a nice his n hers on the drive Tongue

We already have a kingfisher. My estate is getting ropey. Well has always been ropey, lots of good bits on a bad shell. That needs to change. Need to keep an estate for the family. If not id love your motor.

Ah fair enough, i just wondered why you took an engine that was complete apart. Guess you were going to head gasket etc any way then?
Ah yeah I suppose that's a fair question. Its head is being rebuilt ported flowed etc a pre cups being pinned in place. Like to check things are right before I ram power down them.
Wasn't aware you could pin the pre cups in place.
(24-01-2016, 12:21 PM)205dtub Wrote: [ -> ]Wasn't aware you could pin the pre cups in place.

Poss just hitting with a punch to try and lock them?

Tbh they shouldn't fall out of installed properly, but often seem to if replaced
Yeah just dot punch them. Not so much to stop them falling its to stop them turning. That's all. Mine will probably come out for head to be done. They should be safe though if they've been out surly.
So I have a shell. £40
More pics! More info! More of everything!

Lol. Only picture I have I'm afraid. I have engines still in bits. Currently fixing the wife's daily 306 and my 206 that I've got. Once they are done ill have more stuff to report.
Ooh ooh, I know, I know.
Needs ph1 front end.
