I'm about minute away so i'll say yeah
I said closer to my house, not at it.
However going off the latest EA meets I'm sure the flats carpark would be adequate for the 3 people that would turn up.
yeh im game. we will have to organise an EA meet this year.
Do a fix sam's rallye meet
its not far off mate. If people want to help with the engine swap and do the cambelt then theyre welcome!
Yeah there's no way I'm risking a '6 cambelt change.

Yeah because there so difficult
No, because they're so easy to f*ck up.

Yeah because they are so much different to any other 16v engine. Next you'll be telling me you must take it to a specialist because its impossible to do it your self.
I've only done 2 lol, both 8 valves.
Specialist would at least offer warranty if anything went wrong.
It's not just me anyway, a few of the local Pug guys wouldn't risk changing belts on other '6 engines when I asked...
Don't be a bunch of gays. I'll come over and supervise for you. I wont do it for you though, if not you wont learn anything. Always a good skill to have

Exactly this. Its a bloody cambelt!! Its simple and will work fine providing you do the job properly and dont cut corners!
what a great idea!! you lads can chip in and buy tom his 1st takeaway!

I know 'how' to do it in theory. I just don't like doing things without specific values. Can torque bolts to exactly XXXNm, but '90 degrees with moderate pressure' on a belt will differ between people!
We already have one broken engine, why risk another when there are people (like yourself
) that have loads of experience doing them frequently lol.

You and those bloody takeaways!
tom i really dont care if we get through engines. As long as we learn... from mistakes... its fine. Its a project we are doing not a customer car
Im in, Tom get the kettle on and tea and biscuits made... oh wait id have to bring my own kettle
Lol, you wouldn't have to bring biscuits though, got a surplus of those since people kept buying them at xmas!
Project car or not, rather not to be ruining £300 engines! If it was a HDi I wouldn't worry so much as they're only worth a fiver.
What I learn from mistakes is to let someone else do it that knows what they're doing.
So tempted to randomly crash this. Fancy a good roadtrip and I've never been to Suffolk.
That I know of anyway. Is it near that London?
No its a 2 hour drive to that London. Come down. Lu can have one of those northern conversations that i fail to give her.
London!? This is farmer territory, none of that city shite here, we don't even have motorways in Suffolk.
London is more like a 5 hour trip because people enjoy crashing on the A12 and ruining everyone elses day. Quicker to go by train, but then you have to be near 'people' urgh...

Slightly OT but that's a great opportunity to learn a new skill and do a cambelt for the cost of parts, I'd jump at that.
id say give it a go be warned the auto data torque settings are wrong for the cam pulley bolt
they have them swapped with the crank pulley bolt
and you wonder why cam pullyes get broken!
We don't all have autodata...
I use Haynes Torques, doubt they're all right either though lol.

I can teach you? It's not hard mate, just cut out half your words and complain about the price of stuff a lot. And if the rain is coming from above rather than sideways, say "reyt nice out today, getus me shorts love".

I do. I'll even print the stuff out for you.
you have no excuse man. I'll come over one day and walk you through it. Just give me some notice.
specially if the engines out. Really good opportunity to learn. I'll check before it goes back together that Its tight etc
