(So did a quote about 2-3 months ago, £700ish. Pretty terrible prices but I had an accident last year and my no claims suffered.

Happy to go ahead anyway, proceed to get the rallye on the road. I've thrown £1000+ at the car to get it in the condition it is now. It's almost ready to go
Did an insurance quote today, exact same details

And it's gone up by over £200 for the year....
Wtf

So my question is, who can make my insurance cheaper. I've already added a named driver and it didn't affect the price Sad
you realise thats all Dum-Dums fault for claiming on his rallye!

lol This!
Bastard!
More details needed, and then I'll help, rather than throwing random ideas that you may have already tried? Who is the quote with? How dud you get your quote, how many years ncb etc.....
Quote with flux
Through compare the market, but I will call them directly tomorrow when I have time

1 year no claims which is terrible
5points which is also terrible
Using my grandad as a named driver with a clean licence driving 25+ years

I'm not expecting stupidly low because of point etc, but I don't see why it has jumped up £200?!

Because insurance companies are a law unto themselves frankly.

Shop around and if needs be play the insurance companies off against each other.  Also worth noting that depending how old your granddad is, he might actually be increasing rather than decreasing the premium - play around on the insurance sites with and without him to see what impact he has.
Yeah I tried without him and it's only slightly more expensive. I'll see what sticking my parents on it does
Other thing is 99% of insurance companies carry out a credit check on you when you complete an online quote. More quotes you do, more checks, the worse it looks on your record so if you leave it long enough to update your credit file and then requote, some of them will actually go up in price because of your new credit score.
Moral of story - Insurers are wankers
Have you tried being Matthew rather than Matt?
Brentacre.
Ask for Greg.
Say I reccomended you via 306oc ThumbsUp

Credit checks that insurers do will have no effect on your credit rating at all.

Matt, ring them direct and do a fresh quote over the phone. Forget your online one.

To an insurer you're a good risk, on the island with a modified car you've owned for years. You'll get a good rate.

Online prices, in fact any prices can change in minutes - insurers work on a live sever.

Especially brokers, imagine a broker who works for say 40 insurers.. They are giving a price on behalf of another company & if that company has a rate change or even pulls from the market then they have to offer the next best price.

2-3 months is a very long time in insurance terms! Anything could have happened from claim stats in the area up to underwriting terms changing.

The most sound advice I'd give with my experience & background is just call the insurer, cut out the comparison site, just a nice fresh quote with them, declare every modification & you'll get a good rate. Remember they're a specialist who love modified cars.
Yeah I'm going to give them a call tomorrow.
JJ can you set up a direct debit with them using sort code and account number?
My bank account is totally basic, not even chip and pin lmao
You can but to pay the deposit you need long card number, expiry date & security number on the back from a debit card
Damn it, my card doesn't hard have a security code Rofl
Hi,
Hopefully you can get it sorted with ourselves tomorrow however if not please feel free to PM me your details and I'd be happy to take a look at it when I'm back in the office on Monday.
Regards,
Dan.
Cheers Dan! I totally forgot you guys have an account on here!! I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what I can do, failing that yeah I'll drop you a private message with my number Smile
Try adding a younger female as a named driver. I find adding my Mum reduces it far more than adding my Dad or Uncle!

Err are you sure? Pretty sure all cards do have!
Yep. It's a stupidly basic bank account, because I'm sorting my debts and it stops you from spending online and in shops. Cash only at the wall haha.

I don't have anyone female that drives lmao

'security code' is the 3-digit number on the r/h side of the signature strip on the back. Angel

yup you can get accounts like that Wink
I have one for a savings account stops me spending the money without going into the bank Big Grin
Yep I know what a security code is, doesn't mean my card has one lmao
That is quite a good way to stop random spending I guess. Doesn't sound like it's working given what you've spent on the Rallye though. lol
Yeah but it's allowed me to save for the spending on the rallye Tongue
Haha, fair point, can't argue with that! lol
