So, I'm coming up to a year of ownership of my Focus on Wednesday... I have kept receipts and records of everything spent on it, inc fuel, insurance, tax, servicing, repairs, mods etc...

So I want to see how it compares to others... Have had interesting result's on the Ford forum...so want to know how much how much you guys have spent over here... Including everything except purchase price and estimated depreciation. Ideally per year or month, bit pointless to make a comparison with differing amounts of time lol.

It's surprising how it all adds up... lol I may have been better off leasing a brand new one but won't work it out properly until weds. Confused

Cheers
Tom
I did work it out for the 1.8. I had a big spread sheet of what i paid for everything and what the retail should have been. It was something like 3-4k retail and 3k total.
Plus the same again for fuel I guess? Itwasntme
Bought my current cherry 306 nearly 12 months ago now for £300, had a fresh MOT, sold the seats, towbar and stereo for £80, fitted two part worns £50 and serviced her, oil, oil filter, fuel filter bout £20, also fitted bargain stainless exhaust for £40......what's that £330? Big Grin
I purchased the car 6 months ago yesterday:

2 new keys, programming and cutting £200
Timing belt & water pump £145
Rear boot handle/badge £22
Front wipers £28
Fuel filter £12
Exhaust tip £18
Window tints £120
HID kit £55
19" VX-Line wheels with tyres £270

£870 on parts

£30 per year car tax

£240 insurance per year (~£50 extra for Amber to be on it though, although I didn't pay for that)

Fuel I do approx £55 a week although I don't keep receipts for it. So call it £1450 on fuel

£2470 so far, obviously this isn't compulsory work it needed but it's what I've spent.

£411.60 per month.

At least someone read the first post properly... lol
I dread to add up.

205 wise over the years probably knocking on £10k.

I've wasted so much money on 205's
Way too much on the tu
The cherry one
£57 purchase price
2 engines at £100
Gaskets £40
Arps £180
Poly bushes £40
Partner p bushes £20
Exhaust £12
Paint £80 ish
Brakes £25
Shocks and springs £150
Inter cooler £22

And it's still not ready for the road yet
not going to look as it might end in devorce!
I could never add everything up that I've spent on my 6 as parts have come off previous cars, swapped for various bits and pieces over the years etc.

So far my astor hdi has cost excluding purchase price:

£20 a month tax (so annoyed it isn't y reg lol)
£19 to insure (coming to the end of my policy so just paid administration charges to put it on)

£43 gates cambelt kit
£22.90 genuine waterpump
£19 total oil 5l
£12 2x total gear oil
£5 engine coolant
£12 genuine injector seals

So not too bad so far, but that will probably skyrocket once it starts getting dark in the evenings and I have nothing to do apart from fiddle with cars lmao
Figured I'd just popped over the 3k mark on my Xsi before the latest pair of tyres. Not Inc tax, mot or insurance.
The more scary figure is the cost of track days / sprints in two years and I hardly do any!
I dread to think, the current daily has bled me dry over the past year, it really f*cking takes the piss.

The last 306 I had was a f*cking beast, bought it needing work but had all the parts I needed already on the previous car, so stripped that for bits and went on my merry way.
Er....
No.

I'm out

yawn lol, I don't keep track of fuel but usually only tenner a week on veg oil, insurance was £230 this year and tax is £20 a month, amusingly a tad more expensive than insurance Tongue
Im on about 2.5 grand ish. But then again its on its 4th engine now and thats how i justify it....

EBay my friend ;Wink gates kit without the waterpump is only £43 and I bid on a genuine waterpump that was really badly worded in the listing so got it for not much over the starting bid aha
Excluding purchase last October......(£400 if anyone interested)

Pads and discs all round                  £160
2 front tyres                                   £125
Basic service                                   £76
Stage 1 remap, fuel & air filter          £165
Fuel                                                £350 (don't use it much)
Bottom pulley and belt                    £85
Gearbox seal                                   £45
Wipers all round                               £26
Back box                                         £50
Insurance (dont ask)                        £800
Tax                                                 £145

So per month £152

However it now needs nothing for 12 months and the insurance will more than halve so quite cheap really
207 no idea...
The 106 Roland Garros on the other hand..
£200 purchase price
Insurance £88.50
Tax £12.50 P/M
Mot £40
Service bits £30
Cyclones came off a 306 breaker I had £0
2" Pugsport also came off a breaker £0
266 brakes also off a breaker I had £0
Lowering springs again £0
Rear beam lowering £0 just 3 hours work
2 new front indicators £16 (pair)
Fuel £20 every two weeks £360 Jan-sep roughly..
Think that's it, 1 of 9 1993 Roland Garros' left for £884.50
Not too shabby I don't think.
I don't dare to count it up but i bet its the wrong side of 4 grand overall spend. Thing is though i have sold parts I've replaced again so technically less.
Lol i'd bet it's a damn sight more than that Niall. Tongue

The 106 (daily until recently) has cost about a grand to run for the last year, the only reason it was higher before was due to me getting screwed by the insurance company.

Insurance: 420
Fuel: about £10 per week (averaging well over 60mpg) approx 500
Tax: 130

The hdi, well, i've changed everything including the shell and i'm still pretty sure it hasn't cost me more than £2500 a year, including mods.
The rallye has cost me almost a grand in the last month and a half. 200 of that has been transportation though

Bargain :Smile

Mine too much, but  I love it so it's ok.
Insurance £2700 (£266 per month)  -_-
Tax £20 monthly
Coilovers £160
Fuel pump £70
Wheels £120
Servicing £100?
Clutch kit £90
Interior spray £60
Seats £100
Steering wheel £200

And probably more haha
Er....

Well, I put £180 aside a month, which pays for the car and covers my years insurance, tax and MOT - the car cost £4k. I've done about 55k miles in the time I've had it since July 2013 and I've done the following maintenance:

Tyres - I've had to buy 6 in the time I've had it, call that £650
Brakes - £202.21 all round
Wheel Bearing - £68.45
Cambelt and Waterpump kit - £108.95
Coolant change whilst doing above - £19.05
Servicing - x5 @ £55 ish for oil, filters, cabin filters etc = £275

= £1325.45

Estimated for insurance etc:

Insurance @ x2 years of £420
MOT @ x2 years of £50 per MOT
Tax @ x2 years of £180 (Band G iirc?)

= £1300

Plus price of car and insurance = £5578.45 over two years.

But then that includes the price of the car, which I don't separate from what I put away for tax/insurance/mot since these are recurring costs, which might as well be factored into the price of the car...

Over 3 years, the car will cost me a total of £6480 in terms of the car being valued £0 after 3 years, and I reckon on probably £2200 of maintenance probably which will come to a total of £8680. I'll also do 75,000 miles I'd guess...

So plus the fuel, which will cost £7842 for 75k I reckon - maybe more, maybe less... That comes to a total of 22p/mile - it maybe more than that if the fuel costs me more, or I get a nasty bill, but I'm not going to cry about it - I think that's cracking value personally.
£250, since that's the purchase price and I've done no work on it yet.

If you read the post it excludes purchase price.

So you've not taxed or insured it or put any fuel in it?

How can you justify £2700 a year? If you drove a cheap to insure care for 2 years the savings would be enough to buy a nice car outright...

Believe it or not it cost me more to insure a little 1.0 or 1.2 litre at the time. My renewal is in November so hoping it drops considerably Smile will have 1 years NCB then
