Full Version: EML, high idle, revs taking time to drop???

Ive had a search and Im not too sure if the TPS flags up an EML... does it?
Also the car is idling at ~1050 rpm and, when changing gear, the revs seem to stay high/lagg a bit before dropping, is this TPS or could it be a dry cable?

Thanks in advance Wink
Does sound like tps. I had a fault with my last hdi where the throttle stop cable was broken somewhere along the line and the ecu couldn't tell if the tps was at 0
Sound mucka, would it throw the eml up too? :/ getting really pissed off with this car now lol
Depends on software version from memory, but yes, usually TPS will stick it on EML, especially if it's holding a high idle..

Just make sure it's not somehow trapped the throttle cable or similar and the EML is a red herring...
It would of but someone removed the bulb because they were pissed off with it lighting up all the time
If the tps flags a fault the idle is set to 1100 automatically

Does this when you remove the TPS plug also, sounds much happier idling there though! lol
It's just the lag in revs dropping that's winding me up the most... Maybe I need a focus hey Tom Wink cheers for the help yesterday night ThumbsUp
If you buy a Focus make sure it's not one with a wanky Peugeot engine like mine. Wink

No worries, always happy to help.

Is yours the 1.6 PSA diesel? I thought they were pretty decent engines...if you change the oil regularly and blank EGR Wink
Yeah that's the one, don't believe everything you read online, I wouldn't buy another.

Yeah, but you'd find fault with anything lol

As has been said, check the cable's not caught on anything. If you can, swap with a known good TPSĀ from a running car before shelling out on a new one. Have you plugged it in and got the error codes?

You're not the first to have suggested that... Itwasntme

If you've got plenty of money to throw at modding and maintain them, and don't care about MPG or having enough gear to drive motorways economically then go for it... Wink But then you might as well have just bought a 16v DW10 instead...

Its not a 'bad' engine as such, just a pointless one compared to the 2.0 imo!

As I say though, don't believe everything on the internet, people will obviously have different opinions.
Checked cable, its running through sheathing fine. I haven't had it plugged in...I STILL dont own a pp2000 Undecided

I need to get one, for when things like this f*cking happen pfff
