Okay so another electronics project from me.

I originally bought this old iMac G4 off ebay with the intention of trying to fit a modern computer in there and while I still think its possible, the cost got in the way somewhat. Especially with the amount I have spent on carb related parts recently  ThumbsUp

So on to plan B, a raspbery pi powered retro games machine.

The 4:3 screen on the old mac is pretty colourful and nice to look at, perfectly suited for megadrive games etc!

The first thing to do was to gut all the old bits out and make it into a "screen" on its own, however I seem to have lost the pictures from this part.

Just know it was dusty as f*ck and a total PITA to wire up the monitor cables which were minature and not standard in any way, luckily there are a few guides to help on the internet though.

Working off the laptop !

And a little testing with Sonic Pinball

Used a PC "PICO" power supply, which both powers the screen and the raspberry Pi

The flap in front of the old CD drive had nothing to hold it in place any more with the PC removed so used some hot glue, sorted!

Some cable tidying.

All ready to go together

And fully together/working! I am using an aftermarket PS3 controller, have two of them and works with two player using the USB ports on the back, there is also a network port on the back which can be used for adding extra games from a pc.

That's bloody brilliant mate! I run emulators on my laptop, spent hours tonight playing Flashback on a Megadrive emulator.
