Helping advise a mate on some work he's undertaking on his daily 106. Came across a bit of a problem that's stumped me, so said I'd ask you guys. Here is the original message:

"...Got myself a little runner for work. It isnt a long drive but it heats up fairly quickly. I have dropped coolant. Flushed the system and replaced the thermostat. My fan doesnt seem so be kicking in to cool the system and im at a stump. Other then the dreaded head gasket but my top hose is getting hot and flushes fluid when I squeeze it. Any ideas on what else I can do? I stupidly havent actually tested the fan but thought I would pick your brain first. Cheers for any help you can give me bud..."

I'd imagine it to be the fan relay but asking on here to see if anyone has had the same problem. Any help would be grand.

Cheers guys Smile
test the fan.
so whats the problem?

is it overheating when driving?
overheating when parked?

if its overheating when driving then the fan not working is irrelevant!
If its overheat when parked and the fan isnt on then.... check the fan wiring!
Cheers for the replies, getting more info and will post up. The guy is an old Army buddy, lives in Cornwall, so I've not actually seen the car.
