Full Version: GTI6 occasionally turning off

Hello,

I own a 2000 GTI6, and in the last half year I have a problem.
While idle, the engine occasionally is turning off. After turning off, the car starts immediately with no problem.
While driving the engine shuts down (but immediately starts himself because its in gear and revving), and the Check Engine light comes up for 2 seconds, but when scanning in a garage there are no errors logged.

There is no constancy. It can happen one time a week, or couple times a day

I tried replacing the following parts with no success finding the problem:
ICV
Camshaft sensor
Crankshaft sensor
Ignition relay
MAP sensor
Fuel pump checked and was OK
Fuel filter
Injectors were cleaned and filter was changed

Please HELP!!! Huh

Is it a known issue? Or someone is familiar with a problem like this?
Is it the fuel cut off switch? Its the big red button near the ECU in the engine bay. Often the plug works loose so best to cable tie it up.
Thank, i'll check it out.
Odd. Does this problem go away when warm?
If so, possibly a coilpack on the way out?
seem's the problem was the ECU. took an ECU from other GTI and all good.
interesting!
Possibly a dry or corroded joint somewhere but these ECUs are very reliable. Id be considering was is a loose connection to the ECU in the plug?
