theres quite a loud tapping noise coming from my 1.4 anyone know what could be causing this?

Get a video up, but I be 90% sure its the tappets.

They need adjusting at services and often dont get done.

Two 13mm nuts on top rocker/cam cover. Whip that off and you will see the 13mm locking nuts and slots for a screwdriver to adjust them. Get some feeler gauges and find the measurements and get them adjusted

I'm actually going to do a video how to guide pretty soon on a 1.4 for this reason!

injectors can tap a lot as well, my engine sounds tappy but it's fully adjusted

Sure you haven't bought a '6 ?
