the kit i have bought has come from ebay it cost £15
search "3d led cube"

it took about 3 weeks to get here and the instructions are useless to say the least

the sellers on ebay dont supply posted instructions only downloaded info from the ebay listing
its a good idea to download the instructions from a few sellers as you may be able to piece together there crap English translations into something you can undersland
buy it, build it and sell it on, they fetch a decent amount of money fully built Nospeak
Oh shiny lights
building the cube bit is going to take some time!
im using a piece of perforated plate to keep the leds spaced the same
and im also making it with 2cm spacing between leds not the 1.5cm as per the board spacing
this is mainly down to more space to wheld the soldering iorn

[attachment=20832]

8 leds per row with 8rows per columb with 8 columbs to make the cube

[attachment=20833]

half of the first of 8 columbs

Hate to sound stupid but what does it do? I assume you can play with the programming and make light displays and shit?
demo of what it can do they are pre programmed with the led sequences

one columb made and tested all leds work Smile

7 more to go

Same boat as niall whats there purpose? Just light up like the video and look cool?
purpose! why has everything got to have a purpose?

its an electronics Kit which is self assembly
so at the least it will improve your soldering skills and if you get it working it will be a bonus
looking good cully! I have thought about building one of those little V8 engines or a small model car.
well the marathon soldering sessions are coming to an end i have now built the
8 columns of 8x8 leds
now i need to solder them into the cube shape and interlink the wired connections for the circuits

That looks insane

Definitely a interesting party piece
AH man thats so cool. Definitely need a bigger one! Big Grin
after 10 day of soldering at 1-2 hours a day the cube is finished!
Smile
i need to find a base now to mount it on as ive mad it bigger than the supplyed circuit board
then its hook up all the wires time

Looks pretty funky though!
starting to build the box for the electronics board and the cube to sit on
woodwork is not my best trades but it dont look too bad with a coat of paint

this kit is all preprogrammed with i think 15 patterns
im hopeing to be able to connect the board to a pc and re write the sequences but there is no info in the instructions for that!
well there was no instructions to be honest
This thing looks friggin amazing. As said, a pretty cool party piece.

Is Mk2 going to be 10 times the size? lol
soldered all the link wires from the cube to the circuit board and fired the cube up,
only to find its wired upside down and i have one 3 LEDs not working.
ive replaced 2 but the last one is in the centre of the cube
ive yet to work out how to replace it without destroying the cube Huh
