My friend has a 1999 306 XR 1,6 with some problems with the instrument panel.
The type of panel in his car is this one:

Is it then possible to change to the type of panel that has an oil leve gauge?
If, will the oil level gauge work on his car, since it doesn not have this on the original panel?

I don't think they would have put a sensor on the sump if it didn't have a gauge to report to.
The panel will work in a 1.6, but the oil gauge wont work as there is no sensor for it on the 1.6 engine.
Thats why they fitted a dipstick ThumbsUp
Extra gauges are always cool though... lol

Though an oil temp gauge is far more useful than a level gauge tbf, wish I had one in mine, the equivalent 207 DV6 has one. Sad
Speaking of which....theres a gauge like that on a spare set of 206 clocks I got...Tom, being all wise man, will it work do you know on the hdi?!
Hmm, only a wise man of 306s really... lol

Your spare clocks have a physical level gauge? My 206 HDi had a digital level gauge that came on in place of the mileage at ignition, guessing yours doesn't?

The DW10 definitely has a hole for the level sensor but whether or not your 206 will have the sensor or just a bung I don't know...
Will have a look...at the back of the block is it?
Yeah, at the gearbox end.
