onxy black is a solid colour and halfords don't recommend spraying a clear coat over the top. Done some googling and there seems to be mixed advice on whether adding a clear coat gives a better or more durable finish.
Anyone sprayed with the Peugeot solid colours before?
My onyx black spoiler turned out really well with a few coats of laquer at a good temperature
Much prefer it laquered
IMO you should always put lacquer over as it adds a deepness to the final finish and protects the paint against stone chips and the weather.
^^ 100% with ya on that one.
not a solid colour put you get the idea
You don't need lacquer on flat/solid colours, just plenty of colour coat and then polish it up. True story.

did you actually read my post, you can do yes but then the paint is totally unprotected plus the lacquer adds a nice deepness to the final finish
the only paint I would actually be happy-ish (my mates stock car is an example) leaving with no Lacquer would be 2k colour as its hard as hell when dried!
Yes
I was adding an extra opinion to the discussion!?!
I have a few friends who are proffesional painters and when I asked about getting a mates bonnet sprayed in Cherry red, one of them said that he wouldnt use clear coat because it wouldnt need it.
What about laquer on a Matt colour? As if you lacquer it won't it make it shiney instead in Matt? Lol
Correct matt. If you want it to stay matt/satin then dont lacquer it.

Or you could just put matte lacquer over it
Just a shed load of paint then
Yeah if you can find it, rocking horse shit when I looked for it to do my 205 bumpers
Plus side to matt paint is you can just touch it up in 2 seconds if it gets at all damaged
B&Q sell two types of matt lacquer... juuust sayin'

See above your post maybe? who specified aerosols anyway? But I know the mipa do one in cans too!
Clearly just didn't look hard enough did we young Daniel :p
Nobody specified aerosols, but if somebody is asking generally newbie type questions about painting then its pretty safe to assume they arent kitted up to use 2k or any form of compressor spray gun isnt it?!
Anyway, so far we have 1 shope that sells it, if its not on ebay or in halfords then its hard to find.
Are you like this at home aswel?
mark_airey Wrote:Matt asked about the matt lacquer and I posted the ones I did as I know from previous threads that he has access to a spray gun
Stalker.
Rub some compound on the original paintwork and if it comes off black it's not had lacquer and if it's clear it obviously has!
