Yeah but there is a huge contingent of people that have iPhones simply because they are Apple phones.

Thats not 99% of their customers though is it? Ive seen the queues outside phones4u (not any more!) in my local town when new samsungs come out. Im sure if the likes of HTC or Samsung had their own stores then there would be crowds outside them as well on release day. People seem to get stupidly hyped up for new technology. Personally id rather just pre order and wait for it to be delivered to the comfort of my home on release day without a load of sweaty virgin geeks pushing past me to try and be the first to own a new bit of tech
