hope know one minds me posting as it not 306 related
but i was driving our passat home the other day and the oil pressure light come on. was wondering if any of you guys has had much experience with the pd engine that could have any ideas what the problem could be any help would be appreciated

i have just done and oil and filter change light still comes on
thought it could be the oil pump but it not making any rattles or anything
maybe oil pressure switch is there any way to test these?

Usually by the time the oil pressure light has come on the engine is f*cked.
So you better hope it's just the switch thats f*cked.

I'd get a code reader on it, see what that brings up.
There's well known problems with the 2.0 TDI oil pump drive failures that would cause low oil pressure.

Beat me to it. They are well known for shitting oil pumps. They are easy enough to do though if a bit time consuming

Anything below 30psi on a cold start and there's something definitely broken.

Should be ~60-70psi at a guess from cold, dropping to 30 ish once warm.

And yeah - guaranteed oil pump drive on that I'd say, well documented issue.

As said oil pump drive. Really common issue. Massive job to rectify too.

Guessing it's an 06-07 year?
