So just got off the phone to Three, and seeing as the iPad contract is up they offered a upgrade ,so seeing as my laptop is totally goosed and running Linux which I can't understand I chose a new laptop.

So I'm getting the Acer E1-530 which has Windows 8 (64bit I think) so while it's new and virus free wana get the HDi mapped.

So the question is, is this suitable? I keep reading everyone says use XP, does 8 have a XP emulator or is the KWP or Galletto capable of working with 8 or do I buy something else? Or does someone have something that will work that they've used so is known to be good that they're willing to part with?

Thanks guys.
64 bit wont work sadly unless the mpps accepts it
MPPS does work fine with Win7 64bit so it might well work on Win8 too but I've not tried it.
As I say everytime these threads come up, my galetto works fine with win 8 64bit. Smile
Well I don't know for sure it'll be 64bit. It is if you buy it direct off Acer but I don't know what Three will ship it with

Not all of them. Mine didnt and my mates didnt work with win8 either.
As kent said my galetto didn't work with win 8 64k it, I run it in a vm with windows xp and that's works fine, an mpps is probably your best bet
so its here must say I'm not that impressed, it is running win8.1 64bit but i dont like it at all, all this app malarky trying to turn it into a tablet or phone experience, last laptop i had was vista so was really still very much a PC experience. suppose i'll get used to it, just spent 3 hours wiping all the old antivirus samplers and installed the free kaspersky off barclays got the night to explore it and try get used to it then onto ebay to find a tool.
8.1 it and set default view to desktop that helps somewhat
Download 8.1 update 1 it's much better pal
its running 8.1 i think..... it came out of box that way, i can get to the desktop bit but the start button..... well it aint a start button and doesnt do anywhere near anything i'm used to not to mention all the apps that are pre loaded and do bugger all.
Right click on task bar and set default start to desktop view iirc
