Which one is this is it the safe one? Would be good to get pics of them so people can find out if they need to change theirs ASAP. Surprised I never found anything when searching

306 original fitment rattles and fails around 100Kmiles

lol safe! only time will tell there are no garrentees with any of them

I fitted my last 2 hdis with aftermarket ones and they did me fine, but If I was to get another id change for a solid one.

How much was the lynx engineering one cully?

they are around £100 delivered

yup that them if you ring them explain what you want the office then gave me richards mobile number and he sorted payment and everything over the phone

Ok that seems best bet as yours is still going 3 years on lol

100k miles? Mines had a genuine one every 30k ish in the service history!

And the one that failed on the moonstone and snapped the belts was only 18 months old, don't think that was genuine though.


This is the one I have now, its not genuine, but don't think it's solid either?

Looking on the lynx site, I can't see a solid pulley for an hdi ?

correct the hdi pulley was not listed when i looked

I helped my mate fit his lynx one a while back, it was a tight fit? Did you find that when fitting yours?

yes cause the centre bore was anadised if i remember
cleaned up the centrebore all was good

mine looks like the 4th pulley in cullies thread, below the lynx solid one.........the rubber damper seems to be "coming out at bit and cracked" and of course the horrible noise is being heard.............

the pic with the aircon missing, what size is the belt and any alternator "belt slip" issues??

ps I finally found the numbers against the fuses in the cabin fuse box.....DOH! ....my old eyes are bad, had to take a pic and enlarge to see them.

and also what is supposed to go in the round grey terminal connector in the bonnet fuse box?? 1999/2000 hdi estate turbo p/s and a/con......

As I just found on my one maybe worth your while looking at the whole drive belt assembly top down to see what is crooked. Turns out my crank pulley is fine but my auto tensioner is shot lol

Nothing in the bonnet fuse box.

I've just replaced mine with one from ecp, it's solid but taps like a bitch

Did you tension the belt back up properly ?

Auto tensioner isn't it? Seems tight ....

No there is a manual tensioner, that you tension the belt up with first and then the auto one takes up the rest.

Mine was doing it and the noise was the auto tensioner bouncing on it's stops as the manual tensioner hadn't been done correctly.

Sweet, I'll look into that because it sounds horrendous tbh I just thought it would auto tension, I bet that what my issue is

Have a look at the belt run from the drivers wheel arch, mine was bouncing at the longest point between the crank pulley and the aircon compressor.

I just released the spring loaded tensioner, the manual one is held by an allen key and there is a square drive in it, that a 1/4 inch ratchet will fit in, tension the belt up with that and then release the spring loaded one.

Just have a look at the spring loaded tensioner with the car running and see if it is bouncing loads.
