Great guide!
I've got some silent coat that I planned to use of my mini... but now I know 306 doors are rubbish too I'll save it for them.
I've already use cloud 9 on it and it worked really well on my floor.
Sorry to revive an old thread. But I've just done the same in the boot of my 306, what thickness Cloud9 did you use? Also do the pegs need putting back in as I put a new carpet in too as the standard 306 one was pretty rubbish and damaged, I now have a black carpet that matches the carpet already installed, next bit for me is the doors too as I already have a rattle on the drivers side door that annoys me. Also building a hidden panel for the amps for the sub and speakers.
He used 7mm stuff. I'm doing my boot tomorrow. I got the 9mm stuff though.
Where are you mounting your amps?
I've got mine on the n/s side of the boot but I'd like to hide them away behind the rear quarters (mines a three door).

An old pic of my install, it's changed slightly now.

I used the 9mm stuff on mine, was going to take pictures but my hands were covered in spray adhesive haha!
I am fitting them on the back of the seats and then putting a panel to hide them and will be fitting fans to keep them cool.
I fitted 11mm on the boot floor and a few other areas and 9 everywhere else.
No They are both rated to 65db iirc. Just makes a difference to how soft under foot it is but obviously thats not too much of a issue for us lol
So basically the only difference is price and slightly softer feel. How much of the 15 SqM is needed for the whole car
out of a 15m roll, i did 2 cars and had a bit left over

Thanks. So a 15m roll and a pack of 20 silent coat sheets is good for 1 car and more.

Just tried to buy some and that price is without vat and without delivery. It comes to £46.73 after all that

Yeah I was just going to post up about that as just found that out myself! Ebay is cheaper after all lol!
I'm rather tempted to take the carpet and everything out now and do the whole car! Did you put the standard carpet back or did you use aftermarket?
standard carpet mate. Replaced the original deadening with cloud 9

Just the original deadening in the boot and under the rear seats yeh? When we did the front carpet we just added it!
I'm very tempted indeed now. It's made such a difference just in the boot already.

Really, with just the boot?
I need to get my arse in gear and start on mine.

Yeah i did my boot floor first and it made an amazing difference!
Yeah even with the boot it sounds so much better.
It doesnt seem to be anywhere as thick as dynamat. Like dynamat and silent coat are both very thick and rigid. All that stuff is doing is just sealing and not absorbing/reducing vibrations etc. Then again i dont know how much dynamat actually does reduce vibrations but i bet its a lot better than the tape!
That tape is very thin, I've used it in roofing applications and I'd say its about 1/2mm at most.
That stuff, dynamat and silent coat is basically mass loading so your adding weight to the panels changing the resonant frequency or the frequency at which the panels vibrate.
Silent coat is also suppose to change the vibrations to heat so using up the vibration energy.
Okay fair enough, still a lil tempted to try it out on the boot area (arches and floor) see if it makes a difference but I'll wait til my silent coat + cloud 9 build is done first and then decide on if it needs anymore
mad question did any of you actually watch that video?
Done exactly what dynamat does changed the resonant frequency made it deader?
If you want deadening after that you use a closed cell foam if you want it waterproof or foam underlay e.g cloud 9 if you don't want it waterproof...........
