Battery issues, needs jump starting every 2 days or so (car is not in use, Katie wont go out so its been sat idle since August last year)
Jumped it, Multimeter says 11V
Tried to do some fancy negative to earth measuring resistance, that just came back as 1
20 minutes later of running later, with lights and heater blowers on, multimeter says 14V
Turn it off, multimeter says 11.8V
Central locking wont even lock all 4 doors, probably wouldnt start if I went down now
Is my battery dead, or does it just need regular use?
You could try taking it out and putting it on trickle charge.
From what you have said, you alternator sounds fine, as it is chucking out ~14v
My money is on the battery
Dont have a battery charger Grant!
New battery will be what, £60?
Do you have a halfords trade card? The Bosch super balls to the wall jobbies are the same price as the cheapest halfords ones on trade.
I do but I hear they can be really tight on people using them!
Also need to go on a day other than saturday, as I think kids I used to teach work there, they know im not a mechanic! haha
Wont the battery just go again if the car isnt in use though?
The new battery?
If it is in good condition, and has not been drained into its deep cycle it will be fine sat.
I currently have 34CCA on my car. That can be sat for a week or two and be fine starting. Thats about half the CCA reccomended.
I think your battery is just dead mate.
ECP have some good ones, with free delivery! All much cheaper than anything in Halfords too!
Yeah your alternator is spot on by the sounds of things. Will be a fooked battery.
