So went to see maxlee today to grab a new switch for my windows/mirrors as the mirror switch is seized up and the drivers switch tends to jam.. but, both windows go up and down. This is in my phase2 gti

Now, he gave me the first switch to try, from a phase 2 DT, didn't work, tried another, didn't work, thinking we must be doing something wrong, plugged my one back in, works...

So he grabbed a switch from his HDi - idential switch, plugged in, nothing... a KNOWN working switch..

checked the plugs and they differ by 3 pins.

The pins that differ are the window pins - i have 4 pins along the bottom
His switches all have 7 pins.

What's going on here...???
Take it that his hdi has auto window and yours doesnt?

It's a phase 2 GTi - it has auto windows on drivers side...

What other variances are there?

AND the other 3 switches we tried come from a variety of phase 2 DT's

Any way of identifying the switches apart besides the amount of prongs the window switch has?
This is news to me too...

Be good to know whats different and how to tell!
6552 RF window switch- UNTIL RPO No. 07692
6552 WN window switch - SINCE RPO No. 07693
Old style auto windows use an extra 'box' (not sure whats in it!) whereas the newer style the auto function is part of the switch afaik....
@kentiiboii might have one for sale
