Looking at painting a spoiler i have, matt black, to be similar to a standard spoiler, refurbed look.

is there any recommended pre-paint coat to use?
any recommendations for after paint product?

assuming tiger seal will work fine to stick it down Smile
Just flat it back, use some grey plastic primer then Matt black paint. Simples!

Tiger seal will be fine but make sure you tape it well while it's drying. Your f*cked if it slips lol
As said..make sure you tape it well when tigersealing it....I didn't...came back the next morning, spoiler on the floor and big blakc skid marks down the window!
Can do you a guide to removing a spoiler if you like ha ha

lol
one of the funniest things ever, top man!
was only wondering what 'underseal' you suggested mate, i cant for the life of me remember what you said. i've got some grey primer....
When I had mine done they used some rubberised primer can't for the life of me remember what it's called think it was from the plastikote range it's got some give for painting flexible parts so the paint don't crack
Ha ha fooby shat hisself I thought there was a wasp on the loose
Thought id revive this - save making a new one..

So i've attached my spoiler, matt black ofcourse, and it's been on there with masking tape now for a good 3 or 4 hours.

How long should i leave the masking tape on for - plenty of tiger seal on which i was suggested to do the job!

It's also been in the sun'ish for the majority of that time?
Leave it as long as possible

what are you on about one way??

Lol connor - appreciate the reply BUT i will be driving tonight, only a 2 mile trip..?? ok to leave the tape on?
Yeah just leave the tape on
I left mine on for 24hours. Just gaffer taped it on really tight. And drove a very short distance
im going to have to take the tape off tomrow as im heading over to uni with it - shoould be solid by then?? surely??
Should be after 24 hours. Was the paint properly dry when you glued it on? Mine fell off on the motorway as the tigerseal was strong but the paint hadnt cured enough and all flaked off

the paint has been on there for.... 5/6 weeks lol

also where the old spoiler was screwed on, i filled the old holes with tiger seal to "act" as nails across the spoiler

you've scared me now :|
Would "Sticks Like Sh*t" be as good as tiger seal? Im also a little worried about my spoiler falling off, but ive yet to spray mine up. Wink
Use Tigerseal mate, products like you mentioned and things like 'No Nails' are nowhere near as good and not worth the money IMO
well mine has been attached for a few days now and has withstood bumpy roads, 100mph winds and hasnt budged a bit!
Fair play, will get some ordered then, just seems a waste to buy a whole tube when ive already got some sticks like .... knocking around. Smile
i've used other adhesives also in the past, but i havnt't used anything as solid as this.

previoous adhesives tend to dry with a small amount of movement..
ginge it will be fine, i had to scrape my tiger sealed boot spoiler off with a decorating scraper, it took a while to not break the spolier....it had been on for 2 yrs Smile

any pics of yours?
Silicon works a treat

Or drill the boot lid like I did and get a couple of wood screws holding the spoiler on?
cwspellowe Wrote:Or drill the boot lid like I did and get a couple of wood screws holding the spoiler on?

on a hatchback? drill..... through glass... think i'll stick to glue Smile
No, through the metal, like the way the phase 3 spoiler is mounted

Or is yours a poor people spoiler?

lol lol no it came FROM a drilled boot, but it had been drilled through the glass, and the bolts were in horrendous condition - to find the correct bolts, drill the correct holes, keep a window intact etc etc... i found tigerseal a lot easier and quicker.
Yeh and we know what happened when I took it off lol
