Full Version: axle lower on one side

I have rebuilt my rear axle with new shafts and bearings. Set the trailing arms at the same height measuring the shock centres. But the driver side sits 15 mm lower than the other when back on the ground. I have checked the trailing arms are the same height several times with the shocks off. Really starting to annoy me now. Any ideas anyone?
Raise the drivers side 15mm Smile
I kinda thought that was cheating a bit ?
Is the car definitely on level ground?
Yea definitely
In that case....

... Seems the most sensible thing to do.
How do you mean set the sides to the same height using the shock centres?

Personally, I've always found the most accurate way to be to measure from the top of the hub nut to the arch..
Iv got a beam on my Estate that iv passed it down from one of my old cars, iv changed the height on it 3 times now, and every time i measure them out the same the drivers side always sits 10mm lower so i just raise the drivers 10mm
I measured from the arch several times and it was no good thats why I started measuring it from the shock mounts thought It would be more accurate but no good. I just think there must be another problem rather than adjusting the height different from the other side. Looks like thats what ill hav to do
got the same sizes TB's in each side ?? lol
Yeah.
How are you setting the ride height?

It's been a while since I've built a beam, but I vaguely remember having to hold the arms at the required height (I think I used a piece of wood with holes drilled) with no TBs and ARB on the beam. Then fitting the TB, turning on each spline until they slide in and removing the wood to double check ride height. Once happy, the ARB can go back on.
I was just lifting the arm to the desired height with a small trolley jack and then pushing the tb in. And then set the other side to the same height
