THe thread and pitch of this bolt thats sticking out.

I think it's M8x1.25, the thread in the arm might be abit knackered

ah rite, so I can't just use a normal M8 bolt then.

I drilled and tapped this for a slightly bigger bolt

took minutes, job done

M8x1.25 is metric standard, any "normal" m8 will fit it?

yeah but if thread is knackered it won't hold, you'll either have to helicoil or just tap up to the next size

I would just clean up the threads with a tap then check if it holds before going to M10

Put a tap in it but the threads are shot, think I'll helicoil it.

Seems like the ARB isn't fitted correctly, it's poking out abit which has probably whats tugged on the threads and knackered it.

Will pop that out and see whats going wrong, can I take both end plates up and re-assemble it to get a better fit?

What happens is if that bolt is loose, or thread is knackered is the arb end plate works off the end of the arb itself.

One of mine went flying off never to be seen again :p

Obvs it moves a fair bit as the suspension goes about its business.

The plate will just need tapping back on and the bolt doing back up nice and tight with a bit of thread lock for good luck.

Good good, hammers drills and lots of swearing this weekend then.

Typical as I only expected to have to nip the bolt up - now I've gotta dismantle the ARB and helicoil the thread

Honestly 5 minute job, swearing optional

If the plate won't come off, you wind a bolt into the hole to push it off - old headbolt will fit

Then you can do what you want with the thread, helicoil it in a minute or two or tap bigger thread and put back together, easy peasy.

You will want both rear wheels off the ground otherwise there will be torsional stress on the arb

You can wind the bolt into both ends to pop the pates off?
I was gunna pop both plates off, clean up the arb and re-assemble it.

It's M12x1.5 the bolt needed for that isn't it??

M12x1.25 same as a wheel bolt is it not?
