Hey all, im boarding out the loft at home and was planning on using this mitre saw to cut the joists to length, my grandad bought this saw a few years ago to do his loft, he has since passed away and the saw was in my nans garage and she said i could use it. Trick being it doesnt work :/

So, plug in switch on, pull trigger it does nothing. No sounds no smells nothing. So i torn into it. I think the problem is something to do with those 2 metal tabs coming out the end of the motor that were just chilling not actually attached to anything, but im not exactly sure where they should be so im hoping someone can help! If you want more pics of a more words for anything and i'll get them, im here all day Smile Thankss xx

those two metal tabs should attach to a pair of brush's that rub against the comutator on the motor
Commutator being the coppery bit on the end of the shaft there?
Yep.

Fkn character limit.
Bugger thats all thats inside it :/ Guess i need brushes and something to hold them in place
brush carrier and brushes are missing maybe more
I'm guessing grandad left you a project

depending on make and how old it is you will probably be better of Binning it
He could never throw anything out lol, probably been broken for years! Its only a cheap B&Q one, will look into getting another one tomorrow!
Could just buy another one?
Thats what i said
I reckon you could just buy a new one?

I bought a cheap B&Q one, it's taken some stick (and some timber too), and it's still going strong.
Have you thought about buying a new one?
There is always the option of cutting your losses and buying new?
I have bought a new one, thats what i ment all along. Got one from argos today, 50quid years warranty laser stuff which is win!
Why dont you buy a new one?
have you not bought a new one yet? lol
maybe try a set of brush's
or you could just get a new one
Tom i think the general feedback is repair it mate.

Oh wait, no. Buy a new one.
lmao oh you guys!
Hahahahahaha don't buy a new one......

..... Buy an old one Wink
Just incase anyone cares, making progress lately. Loft is hardly ideal photography conditions so im ashamed of the shit pic but just showing what im upto Smile
