i attempted to carry out a service on my hdi today, only find the sump plug had been partially stripped and would not fully tighten, is there any way of fixing this without changing the sump.
thanks
Helicoil maybe?
Helicoil, or re thread it and use a different bung.
I need to this on the 2.1

only got few threads left...damn alloy sump n steel plug!!

anyone got any links to a larger plug n tap?!
thanks for the ideas, does any one know what size the plug is?
wrap it in ptfe (plumbers tape )
I wouldn't drill and tap the sump in situ, you'll end up with it full of swarfe.

Id use either fuel/oil proof sealant and/or ptfe tape till you can drop the sump and replace it.
