Thought i may as well get a thread up on here since its becoming quite handy to me on here.
This is my 1st van and and bought it around 4 month ago, only bought it to get mine and a mates pit bikes around. Got the van nice and cheap for £300 due to needing a little work and having 250k miles on the clock. To be honest when i bought the van it felt awful to drive! knocking and banging.

1st jobs were:
* fit new front strut and 1 was leaking,
* new ball joints,
* new track rods,
* fit different wheels
* new steering wheel

Van drove like new after that Big Grin Next up was to sort the back out as it was a right mess!!! Here are a few pics of what it was like after new parts were fitted.

I tried all sorts to get the sticky stuff off the old stickers what was on the van but i was having no luck with that at all so decided to go for something different and sticker up the an myself whistle

Then got myself a recovery light for the top and bought some new seats Cool

Next up was tidying up the inside and i also bought some coilovers and had the rear beam lowered. Quite surprised how well the rear axle came apart for the age and mileage of the van. Anyway here is how it is now.

Coilovers and astra front splitter:

I bought myself a 95 306 d.turbo nice and cheap on ebay. cant go wrong for £80 for a complete running car, only had the front end missing (bumper, wings and bonnet)
Everything went quite well to be honest, got the engine out of the van then engine out of the 306 and back into the van within a few hours. also painted my engne bay black while i had the engine out.

[Image: 20130811_204724_zpsc5e352a8.jpg]

then i had to fit the 306 exhaust what came with a decat Big Grin only problem then was that the 306 exhaust was about 6" too short so i removed the back box and had a spare straight through middle section off my old saxo vts what just went straight onto the back of the 306 middle section and i just cut it to fit the back bumper nice so i am now running a straight through exhaust with a little middle box in.
The engine has the lucas pump and the KKK K14 turbo with both have been tweaked to give the van that extra little poke. i am running 23psi of boost and pump has been turned up around 135oC with boost compensater turned in all the way then back out 1 turn. i see very little smoke from this and the van pills like a train.

Just ordered my fmic so just needing an xantia inlet and all the pipe work.

Seen this floating about on berlingo forums etc. own a berlingo myself "having" to keep mine a NAD otherwise I'd take it to far again haha

Looking good though!
lol Just can't stay away from french tin can you?! Tongue

Sweet project this! I'll be watching with interest Smile
Love that!
haha no i have tried to move on but always end up behind the wheel of a french scrappa! once i get fmic out the way i might go for some JDM wide arches but i dont really want to run banded steels, would rather keep my 1.2s but then they will just look daft with huge spacers on and dont want to spend fortunes on wide wheels!!! only option really is to run 9.5" bended steels Sad
So much for "Not gonna bother with tuning that much" lol
Looks awesome. Very different to the usual "track '6" projects we see. I like alot
Amazing! Big Grin
Haha sorry pete, you should know me by now... i always want more...

Thanks everyone. i bought this as it was cheap and it has turned out to be my daily driver.
Good work!

impressed with the engine change.

how much room is down the back for a bigger blower? ninja
There is about the same room as on a 306 i would have thought but then there is plenty of room up top if i had a manifold made up Wink been looking into a T25 or a TD04 but they seem to be a hassle on. could do with something bigger than the kkk k14 tho.
if you can do an engine swap, turbo upgrade wont be much hassle..
its very nice mate. have cammo on my 306 too Big Grin

from what car are those recaros?
saw this pop up on facebook the other day. love it Smile
Ah yeah saw this on the 6 forum. I love it! Bet it turns a few heads.
Sorry what engines in these to start with? Straight swap onto mounts / loom for XUD conversion?

Normally they are a 1.9 NA Derv but they did a handful with a XUD in. Some of the slightly later ones came with HDis in them.
The shell is based on a 306 one so all 306 engines bolt right in. I think the only thing you need is the berlingo/partner down pipe.
Dw8 if you get an early one like this one and mine its pretty much a straight swap. The later ecu ones are a pain but doable then the mk2 are pain in back side we can bus.

They are actually an inch and half narrower at strut tops but largely a 306/Zx chassis wise
Would be very handy to have a van, especially running on veg...
Engine was a straight forward swap, had a bit of a mess in getting the clutch to work but got there finally. The standard engine is a 1.9 diesel, slow as f*ck!!! You need to use the 306 down pipe, decat and middle section then I just used a saxo middle section and cut it where need be for the rear section so I am not running a back cox. Basically a straight through exhaust. The only issue with the d.turbo engine in the berlingo is the wiring. You will need to find the starter wire and join them also my speedo and temp guage are not working so thats the next thing I need to look at sorting.

Seats are out of a rover tomcat turbo B)

Intercooler has just turned up... yey
The seats aren't out of a Rover Coupe Turbo, the only ones that ever had Recaro etched into them was a Rover 800 Turbo.

Coupe Turbo seats were different entirely aside from the pattern.

Van looks good after the stickers tbh, different.
Well i just bought the seats off a mate who had them in his mini and he told me they were from a rover turbo. i wasnt to bothered to be honest, just the fact that they were in mint condition and are nice and comfy is all i am bothered about.
Xantia inlet and intercooler pipe work are now on order, along with a bakerbm lower mount as mine is fooked!
Intercooler and pipe work has came along with new engine mounts too. Been cracking on this morning cutting the bumper ect to make room for the intercooler to fit in. just waiting on xantia inlet turning up too so i can get it all put together. hopefully not be as much hassle as it looks...

Hopefully if the ran stops i can get the intercooler all fitted and most pipe work made up ready for xantia inlet turning up.

Interesting about the bigger mouth grille was contemplating what it would look like! Thought about colour coding the bumpers then carrying the camo on?
I was thinking of colour coding the bottom half of the bumper and leaving top half black but might just paint the full bumper satin black along with bump strips what i already have off and primed then same with the rear too. Wouldnt mind going for a bigger turbo and pushing for 170bhp mark but just going to see what its like once i get the cooler on as i cant be bothered hassling on much at the minute and would rather just but something whats a direct bolt on too.
cool....id missed this.

needs a bosch though
Might get myself a bosch when the time comes, just want to get it back on the road again. More updates tomorrow if the weather holds out.
This is awesome!
Well the cooler is on but i am not happy with where it is sitting yet, needs moving slightly to the right and lowering down a tad then pushed about an inch forward closer to the bumper. also plan to move the reg and get a couple extra holes cut in the bumper too. Here it is anyway Smile
