Steels just on for winter? What you doing to the hdi?

One tyre on the nimrods had a 'nick' in the sidewall so swapped the lot over (instead of replacing one tyre haha) just driving on for the moment will keep the 'rods though

HDi's cat collapsed and was rattling around so got a complete downpipe made up, also replacing the rocker cover seal (right ballache that is), removing the EGR setup and re-routing the header tank.
lol "runs to a fasion" this is a serious understatement of the year. lol
Nothing much has happened recently with the car driven over 3000 miles with the VNT and still pulls well.

Did fit my 10mm pump that Darren rebuilt and fettled with for me. The pump came from a 91k Xantia and was fairly good condition internally, apparently.

Only picture I got, was a bit of a pig to fit in the 206.

Pulls very well. It's probably just me, but I would say it's pulling harder and cleaner.

Absolutely hate 3rd gear though. 1st and 2nd absolute beauty's but 3rd is just a git. It's not completely off boost but it does have to 'build back up' for that second as it were.

I think that the d-turbo box is the same regarding 3rd gear, an I don't particularly fancy a 6 box.

What were you running before? 9 or 11mm?

Also, as for 3rd being slightly too long / putting you off boost, change into 3rd later (go for 6k+ in 2nd)? Tongue
You bringing this on Sunday mark?

I haven't actually had a nosey at it yet aha

11mm that was rebuilt. The pump that actually came with the VNT engine. The 10mm on it now came from the stock Xantia engine I bought.

Yeah, should really ramp up the rpm....I do like the low down torque though...it really is quite easy to drive

Yea I'll be bringing it. It's my daily atm as my HDi is in pieces again. Got quite used to the paddle clutch now from being in traffic with it Tongue
Haha Yeah, paddle clutch on a diesel isn't too bad once you're used to them. The tricky thing is getting back in a standard car after and getting annoyed at the overly light clutch feel haha
How have I never read this before?!?! Awesome project pal, I'm another one who saw it at FCS and didn't realise it was so special...

Do the people who say that know about the VNT? lol

Have you ever had it on the dyno?

Yeah they know, just say that the engine is in the wrong car.

Soon ninja
Looks good
We can both put them on the rollers when I get mine done
So nothing much has happened on the car exactly, got Tax and MOT up in March/April sometime. I do want to take it to Pugfest, maybe up the hill but whether I want the expense of it for another 12 months.

With that in mind, the car will probably go on a diet pretty soon.

In the mean time in amongst two motorbike, a quad and a tractor project I decided to tear down the engine that went in the 206 first so it's ready for action if needed.

Pretty sure I cooked it as a pipe under the thermostat housing split.

Took the tensioner, pulleys off, engine mount and the water pump. All still in good order really.

And the K14 Turbo (she was good for 26psi Smile ) also took the studs out for the manifold too.

Injectors, Glowplugs, Headstuds off

Before I lifted it off I noticed that the gasket had 'pushed/split' out here on the timing end.

Elring 3 notch gasket (don't know whether it's been done before. Nothing in the part service history that I have for it)

[Image: 932119FE-732A-447F-AC97-5621C99F13FF_zps9pqpeyl5.jpg]

Bores look OK

[Image: 1BE80357-6609-4EE5-9B93-90BB15A705ED_zpsw0tszrqe.jpg]

I possibly have a head off a known good engine so whether I'll just use that. Else I'll get this one skimmed and tested.

Will pull the sump next.

Watch this space.
Dodgy cheap motorfactor fibre gasket, they're absolutely shite!

Mostly what gave XUDs a terrible reputation for HGs. They NEED the MLS ones - but you knew that!

Yea was going to say it looks like a fibre one. Couldn't stick the extra fuel and air mix that lobbster forced down the cylinders.

Whats best to run? I've heard some people say 5 notch? Or just keep it to what came off..?
fit an MLS gasket, Multi Layer Steel. As pointed out already Tongue

Just be sure it's the same thickness and you'll be doing alreet
What's rods are you going to use in this block
(24-01-2014, 07:45 PM)mikey b Wrote: [ -> ]What's rods are you going to use in this block

Ages ago I had a friend change the engine in a 2.0 hdi. The block was going to the scrappy so I ended up having the rods out of it. So will probs stick them in for a laugh.

Have you got rings/shells for yours yet?

So it went on the dyno today.

Local place to me, seemed to be a good setup so went in for the hell of it.

Pulled 194.3hp 242.6lb.ft

Couple pictures, the exhaust one couldn't keep up..smoked the shed out
