Okay so I know I have a crappy Corsa, but I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice/knowledge of their electrics?

Recently, every time I indicate left and brake at the same time, the fog light sign on my dash flashes, and both my rear indicators come on. If I'm not braking however, it works fine.....

Is this a simple fix or a big thing? Got my MOT in April and I don't want to have to fork out loads as I'm looking at a new car....

Thanks!
Most likely to just be loose connections shorting out on each other (touching when they shouldnt touch). Its usually just a fault with the connector on one of the rear lights. If you pull the plug out of each of the back lights just check to see if anything looks dodgy, exposed wires or corrosion/dirty terminals on the plugs.
Simple. Buy a 306!

If you (or get Scott to do it!) take the rear lights out, check the boards in them and make sure there all intact and not corroded
That sounds pretty simple then! Cheers!

Niall I am looking, but can't buy anything for a couple of months as we're off to Canada in 3 weeks! So really I need her to pass the MOT so I can save up for a shiny shiny car.....
Canada? You've just bloody been! Lol
Burn it with fire and then claim on your insurance Big Grin

that way you don't have to fix the electrical problem* and get a new car!

*I hate car electrics & its probably best to ignore this advice totally!
Niall, Scott went but I didn't, so I'm due a trip! Lol

Mark....as tempting as that is I think I'll give it a miss....
Dodgy earth at the rear, clean up all the contacts

I think we all know this is NEVER the solution to an electrical problem...

Yeah, as said, sounds like a dodgy earth/connector Smile
will be corrosion, short or bad earth
Fire will definitely fix this issue. Or just clean the contacts if you insist on keeping a corsa on the public roads. Lol
as already said it will be a bad earth, clean the contacts if its still shit, create your own earth, its to do with how your sending a live through the wire, and becouse it cant reach its own earth it trys to find another one, and that might mean running through other componants switching them on, till it creates a circuit.
I think this issue indicates you need a 306 of-corsa Big Grin
Haha, I knowwwww! I am looking but can't do anything for a couple of months as we're going away in 3 weeks. Just need to make sure she passes the MOT so I can keep saving for a shiny shiny pug!
Man up and get a 6 already!
Give me the money and I will!!! Having a 6 will be an extra £100 in tax, an extra £300 in insurance and more in fuel, so it's not easy.

Aside from the fact that all the decent ones seem to be ph2s or in a colour I don't like!
I'm honestly surprised no one has suggested the issue is purely that she has a Corsa.

ninja
Don't be hating on the Corsa you! Don't forget how you got from A to B when the S16 was broken.....

I say broken, I mean when Pug Performance decided they wanted to play with it
I've worked it out.

Vauxhalls have this system built in to self destruct after a certain time starting with the indicators failing. The purpose of this system is so that one owner doesn't become chronically ill from driving a Vauxhall for a long period of time.
Once it's started, the only way you can stop it is by

A) set fire to it
B) crash it into something substantially heavy
C) take it to the scrap yard
D) leave it running outside halfords for some chav to take it.

Unfortunately, this 'disease' follows you and not the car and therefore even if you go out and buy a brand new Vauxhall, within a matter of minutes you will have problems.
Only cure...buy a gti6!

oh you took yours to pug performance.... yeah i did aswell broke most bolts, bodged it all back together and left my drop links loose becouse they tryed doing it with an air gun and stripped the ball joint out and popped it, so i had to buy new ones about week after becouse i got a knock ever since they fitted it, also waited from about 9 till about 4 in the afternoon to drop a rear beam...
