Can anyone say for sure that if my brake switch has failed under pedal ... apart from no brake lights ,would an abs light and handbrake light permanently show aswell
Im in need of some help as im learning it aint easy to just test these switches as in a mucked up place
No. You have some sort of other problem there.
Get a code reader plugged in to check the abs faults. There are ways to manually test the sensors. Search for the sensor testing guide in the guides section.
Handbrake light could be one of several things. Low pads (if you have pad wear sensors) or low brake fluid. Both easy to check.

Before ripping the brake light switch out for a replacement, try some new bulbs in the rear lights. Could just be both bulbs have gone. Also have a look at th condition of the contacts in the light. Mine were corroded to hell on my old car
Both bulbs and the 5 high level bulbs? Gotta be pretty unlucky for that lol! Big Grin

But yeah, it won't cause the fault lights as Niall says.
Brake light switch...be prepared to donate some blood.
My mechanical friend donated blood . And also changed the switch without removing any steering column
Job all done now brake lights up and running
Genius
Just to let all now its possible doing this
Brake switch? I feel for you...

Although not a true 306 owner until you've changed one
Thats what friends with smaller hands are for m8
You cant live for the 306 till you have changed a brake light switch on 1!
