but seriously, how can you not love a film with giant bugs, action man, Neil Patrick Harris, Charlie Sheens ex, love, death, glory, roughnecks, explosions, naked shower scene and the best invasion scene of all time

It was a quality film, it was the sequels which tarnish its' reputation as they were dogshit. Could have been epic, but they were full of fail.
Hardly a timeless combination of storytelling and quality acting though, but well good for the action scenes / immaturity!
I think I remember being really disappointed with the video game this spawned as well?
I was 14 when this came out and went to the cinema to see it in Exeter I think with my school mates.
