Just wanting to know the difference between fog lights and driving lamps. I know fogs lights are for fog so I don't want anwser like that. But instead what makes a fog light a fog light and what makes a driving lamp a driving lamp.

Reason being I wanna turn my fog lights into driving lamps so they're legal to use
Fog lights are low level so they light under fog rather than just a strong beam of light which you get from driving lamps...

So would I be able to convert my fogs to driving lamps if I take everything out apart from bulb and reflector

Pretty much yeah. Driving lights are basically like another set of high beams. Fogs normally have a capped bulb in them so they light up the road in front of you but dont just light up the fog like your high beams do.
So if I was to strip them they would be legal?
well considering they were originally fogs, technically probably not but you would never get picked up on it Who would know?!
remove the lamp difflector and ajust the reflector up so the beam reach's out ferther there is an adjuster screw in the bottom enableing this
Thank you lads. I stripped a spare one the other day and was thinking about it if it will be worth it or not
You'll get pulled for driving around with your foggies on mate.
Dont think you'll convince the plod that theyre driving lamps because youve messed with the reflectors.

What if I wire then to come on with sidelights.
No mate the coppers dont like it, £30-60 fine everytime you're caught.

But if they're not Fog lights surely I can argue they're not fogs they're driving lights
Think you'd loose the argument dude tbh.

Don't argue with a copper, they are in a place where fog lights are supposed to be placed. It doesn't matter whether you adjust them or not, you can blame previous generations of trying to fool the police for the lack of trust in people.

He's not exactly gonna stand there and listen to you ramble on about what you've done to make them special is he...
if you have lights in the bumper in the eyes of the law they are fog lights, got caught out by it myself but luckily just got told to turn them off and not the fine.
and if you convert them to driving lights they arnt going to be particularly pleased that your driving around with essentially main beam on are they lol.

id say change them to driving lights then do cullys main beam flash mod, just remember to dip lol
