Well, Easter weekend, and like all proud men I treated myself to a couple of new cleaning products. Photoshoot tonight for IHeartHaters so figured i'd better sort the tank out.

First up, Meguiars Hot Wheels All Wheel And Tyre Cleaner. Pretty much what the bottle says. Not recommended for aftermarket wheels or painted wheels as the finish may not be durable enough for the acid cleaners in it.

I figured what the hell, only morons would leave it on the wheels longer than the 15 seconds (yes, seconds) stated.

The stuff:

Nice attractive pink, decent sized bottle, used about a quarter cleaning the wheels though as the spoke design means a lot of overspray. Still, £7.99 from Halfords, I can afford an extra £2 per wash if push comes to shove. Neutral smelling, inoffensive, but sizzles like some mad acid shit when you get it anywhere, so definitely keep away from untreated surfaces or yer eyes.

The test wheel

Looks clean enough, not amazing but not dirty. I sponged the wheels down yesterday with some Megs Ultimate Wash and Wax, but as you can see there's a lot of crap on them still

Application

Spray liberally all over the wheel and tyre, wait 15 seconds, rinse off. DO NOT leave it on to soak like some other wheel cleaners as it WILL eat the wheel.

Watch in amazement as a load of brown shite comes flowing out of the tyres that you didn't even know was there! Then agitate any stubborn parts with a wheel brush before rinsing thoroughly.

HUGE improvement over what looked like a "clean" wheel from a distance. Well worth it. Finish off with some tyre gel and you're rocking.

Next up, Gunk Engine Bay Foam Degreasant. Again another Halfords purchase. Empty a whole can over the engine bay like so:

And leave for 20 mins. Then rinse and watch all the old veg, diesel, oil, everything else flow down the road and give not one f*ck about the environment.

Next in this series:

Making a relocated washer bottle out of a plant feed container. Stay tuned.
Any pics of engine bay after?
Nope because ive just realised its done f*ck all to clean it so im painting it black instead

Oh lol, was hopeing it made it look good was gona get some my self but maybe i wont bother lol
steam cleaner is the only way to truly clean an engine and bay imo. might get some of that wheel cleaner though, looks beast Smile
The wheel cleaner's amazing. Just be careful with the ProRace's etc, the instructions say it's ONLY for OEM quality wheels with decent clear coat, but i've had no issues on the XXR's
G101 and a steam cleaner made my bay shine.. I'd honestly have ate my dinner off my TMIC after it.
Never been a fan of the Meg's wheel cleaner

Kerasene shifts shite off the engine bay then just need a good cleaner to remove that as its oil based
Always used this wheel cleaner! Works amazing on brake dust that was on the rims in the corners! I used to leave it on ages as well...! Nothing went wrong! Smile
Can the wheel cleaner be used on the engine bay? Might be an idea.
Poundland brake cleaner works well on oil staining
Or just keep your wheels well waxed and then dirt and brake dust isnt is a issue. Just hose it off

I use cheapo from morrisons. Work brilliant...

They say if it smells or looks bad its good. This smells like rotton eggs
the rotten egg smell is the acid content.
just a good 5L of engine degreaser from motor factors...brush it in....rinse off...engine bay looks like new

Thought it would be but it really is good. It says to brush on and wash butdont really do much them so I use the green side of the sponge to help it along
Jetwash does the engine bay fine, done it loads of times lol. I dont like the idea of gunk etc as surely it'll take the grease off the parts that are supposed to be greased?

That wheel cleaner looks good though, I've tried a few others but none seem to do anything lol.
