Best place to by these? Not worried on price just got a crazey idea ninja
It depends really on what you want done and where you plan on getting it done. If you have a preferred tuning company then ask them what they prefer, as if they're local and you trust them and plan on them doing the mapping and tuning for you, it'll be much easier if they're working with their preferred choice.

And by any chance are you having naughty ideas after seeing something at Ace on Monday?
or if you doing it all yourself?
Well the idea im having is epic its been done a few times but this one is different but the guy said if I get the ecu he can mapp it to what I want and 240+hp for £1650 and it sounds epic ninja
Ah yes, I have an idea then Wink

Did the guy not say what software he preferred, as some people only like working with OMEX, for example.
i like this idea ninja
Well a guy emailed me asking if I was interested as I was ' looking ' into it but didnt like the idea of how it was done but this guy said they to theres different and to what speck you want it at to Smile plus he prefers omex but he can map anything
Omex is stand alone?!
I no that but theres a few others though im only going by what this company is telling me dude hemce why im asking the question
well thats not what you posted....before you edited your post! Tongue

Omex is the best as far as Im concerned
ninja
What engine?
Gti6 dude
Omex is very good for things like data logging and 99% of mappers will work with them but if you dont need all the fancy features, there are some lesser branded ECUs that you can get for VERY reasonable prices.
Ill be shopping around on the net on my next day off, I no I want launch control and a few fancie things but price is my main concern not really bothered by it but cheeper the better but with a few fancie stuff Smile
i do like some of the Omex plugins you can get. Like the 3 buttons on the dash to switch between maps!
speak to m-tecg over at westbury threy supply/fit/map stand alones/ bodies
VEMS!
Ill have a look into them guys, ill be over westbury way soon actually Jamie as will be lookong for parts for the gti ninja
I use & Fit Omex on all my car's, To the extreme of having a car dropped off today with a Emerald which I'm selling on so I can get a Omex system on there, But pro's and con's of them are

Omex 600 can only run a standard coil pack and not the 4 as fitted on the 6, Easy way around this is to use a XSI coil pack but needs the cam carrier lugs cutting off, The 710 can run them thou along with the Emerald when spec'd to run them,

Emerald is a pig to map, no live adjustments you need to save everything, Omex is in real time as is DTA which is another good system,

Avoid any home-brew system's as when the supplying company goes bust your left up the swany , Mega ...... are the same, Not many mappers are intrested in DIY stuff as the time needed to make it work is silly, unless pure DIY.
Megasquirt is very easy to map if your looking to do stuff yourself and are budget conscious.

Emerald get a very good name in some circles.
Emerald is Ok, but it's odd really, I'm selling and have sold in the past Emerald's off cheap along with loom so I can fit a OMEX system
Just easier and quicker to map, Plus the Idle side of things is controlled better too
How much you looking at for the one your selling as I saw your facebok earllier?
Emerald.
Is that what your running chris?
Yeah that is what i am running mate, You can do a lot with it as well. What sort of engine you going to build then.
I'll do the ECU and Flying loom for £600.00 on here

Ideal, well the head needs a rebuild or just going to buy a non tapping head then save for a supercharger kit from fremch car conversions as I dont really like how the lynx motorsport ones work, still not decided to be honest still looking at throttle bodies and cams though thats why I want a standalone ecu so I can decide which one, but in no rush still have a few nigglie bits to sort out on mone first.

Ooooo thats tempting!
Who an earth are they?

Having driven most types of engine configuration I just don't like the low boosted cars, Just don't seem quick to me no matter how many I have driven, I think the lack of torque over a turbo engine is the biggest issue.

But what's up with the Lynx Kit?, Quite a few have copied it the only difference mainly is intercooler location and pipe work
There a new company, im still deciding between boost or n/a, I dunno really just dont really like the idea of spending upto 3k and still have the standered ecu just doesnt really apeal to me to be honest
