Full Version: URGENT: injector related

Right as some if you may know I'm currently swapping injectors and I've hit a problem with one of them I've managed to wiggle them all out but the one nearest timing belt side has left its copper washer in the bottom still now does anyone have any advice on how best to get it out as I have already tried carefully lifting it out with a screwdriver but it seems pretty well stuck in there

put something sticky on the screwdriver?
tap it with a screwdriver then use a wire hook in the hole and lift it out

eew thats mingin cleaning it up might help, should of cleaned the crap up before you lifted the injector cause guess where that craps going?
Managed to get it out with a bolt threaded into it ever so slightly.

On to the next problem I don't think there sealing properly but I don't want to over tighten the nuts as there already pretty tight any ideas?
Did you clean it up? As all that crap won't help it seal

You really need to clean the seats up in the bottom of the injector holes. We use a tool for it at work, but I dont know where you would buy the tool from, your best bet is probably to go to a local diesel specialist and ask very kindly if you can borrow it for a few hours.

Its called an injector seat cutter:-

Also, new washers are a must after cutting the seats, they want to be slightly thicker than standard to make up for the material you clean off the injector seat. Diesel speiclaist should have a large selection of washers which they can offer to you aswel, just take in a standard washer and ask for 4 slightly thicker ones.

If the injector seat is good and it has new washers you really dont need to tighten the injector clamp bolts too much at all.

Cheers for the input dan! Will keep it in mind thanks once I get on the computer you shall all be repped!
Spent a good 10minutes cleaning it all out and managed to get it all sorted then the camshaft sensor started playing up again and the car was struggling to start.

All sorted now and back on the road noticed the engine is alot quieter on idle now and no more tippy tippy so thanks everyone on the input!!

Best way I've found is tapping a slot head screwdriver into the middle of the copper washer, and twist!

And for sealing, use a tiny bit of coppaslip between the injector and the seal, and a bit between the seal and the block. Worked everytime for me, and as pro_steve made VERY clear to me, stay clean!!
My injectors I was gonna fit have been sitting in my room uncapped for ages and I've been painting a few bits, are they likely to be ruined?
Best way is to try and see. Drive it around for 20 mins, then you'll know. Pretty hard to tell just by looking at them.
