Right, I don't use my fogs often but this is one of the maybe 3 times in a year where they are useful to have. There was thick fog this morning, but when I flicked my front fogs on I wasn't even sure they worked.

I couldn't see any yellow light being emitted from the front. I only had my sidelights on at this point, but ended up having to use my headlights instead, cos my foglights just weren't cutting it.

Why so dim? The lenses are clean (I wiped them down before leaving cos they were covered in shit) and the bulbs both work.

What bulbs go in there? Is it easy to bung some HID's in there?
You know its illegal to use just sidelights and fogs anyway right? Need dipped on too anyway. Have they rusted inside so theres no reflector left?

Always found mine were crap in fog anyway lol, not bad for lighting verges at night though.
They are h1s IIRC, but the hole is really small, I tried some led ones, bit couldn't get them in. I reckon you'd be able to get hids in there fine tho
Yellow hids ftw!

And yeah they are h1's
probably an earth problem if the bulbs themselves are really dim
Where are the earths for the fogs?

I'm not sure I can be asked upgrading them to HID for £30, when they are barely used!

The insides of the lenses (the chrome bit) is still chrome, I know what you mean though, as they can go brown when the chrome rubs off/corodes.

Fecking things. Might just put some new H1 Bulbs in and see how it goes.
im not entirely sure where the fogs will be earthed, but theres an earth point on one of the inner wings that i would try first.

is it just the bulbs themselves that are dim if the chrome is still all intact?
Change the bulbs...
not full of water are they? very rarely see standard 306 fogs that arnt haha
I had to replace the lense on one of them in September so had them both off, both are fine and sealed from water etc.

Think it might just be duff bulbs. I can imagine if they are the original bulbs that they might be a bit shit by now, so I'll start by changing them. Access is fun though!

Bumper off job Smile. I know on AOC alot of the Astras have hids in fogs too.
Dont need bumper off Kent. Wink Not if you're small and agile anyway haha.
Its a pain in the bum to get foglights out so yeh bumper off is probably the easiest way! No idea why they are dim just replace the bulbs would be my advice! least when you take the front bumper off you will be able to get a closer look and notice any problems!

Haha!!!
Christ really? I'd better stop irritating you then! Confused

But seriously, you can get bulbs out without taking the fogs out, so n need for bumper to come off. Smile
I'm sure you'd be able to out run him Tom Rofl
