Head gasket list - Nathan1305 - 30-11-2014 So going to be doing the head gasket on the 106 and there's a small oil leak coming from it. I've got a list of the only things I can think of. - Head gasket - head studs - cam belt - water pump Do I need anything else? Thank you guys RE: Head gasket list - Piggy - 30-11-2014 Head set...for other gaskets and seals etc Coolant perhaps Engine oil/filter Check ya aux belt too...maybe worth doing RE: Head gasket list - lolsteve - 30-11-2014 hheeellllooooooo did someone say headgasket RE: Head gasket list - Nathan1305 - 30-11-2014 (30-11-2014, 10:05 PM)Piggy Wrote: Head set...for other gaskets and seals etc Awesome do you think the head will need skimming? If its not overheating and you remove it cold it should be fine though RE: Head gasket list - Nathan1305 - 30-11-2014 (30-11-2014, 10:29 PM)Piggy Wrote: Get it checked. If its not overheating and you remove it cold it should be fine though Yeah it's not over heating at all and only a tiny bit of Mayo and a bit smokey so it should be fixed with a new gasket and all the fluids drained and changed? RE: Head gasket list - 306Dan - 30-11-2014 I'd take it to an engineers to have it checked my local one doesn't charge for checking just skimming RE: Head gasket list - Nathan1305 - 30-11-2014 (30-11-2014, 10:55 PM)306Dan Wrote: I'd take it to an engineers to have it checked my local one doesn't charge for checking just skimming Cool there's a highly recommended garage by me so I'll take it there and get it checked out RE: Head gasket list - Norledge - 01-12-2014 TBH those 8v TU's take a LOT of punishment, I've never NEEDED to get one skimmed, but if it's going to take some serious abuse it may be worth it. I love these engines in these cars, I've managed a head gasket on one it 45 minutes before now (just ask Ruan!) RE: Head gasket list - Ruan - 01-12-2014 Easiest head gasket change in the world... But yeah, if it's been overheated badly it'll need a skim, if it's not overheated, you'll probably be OK! Awesome thanks guys yeah the temp sits just under half way even when giving it some so it should be fine, hopefully there's a thread on here or 106oc on how to change one, never attempted it before RE: Head gasket list - Norledge - 01-12-2014 1. Unbolt exhaust manifold from head 2. Drain Coolant 3. Unplug Fuel Pipes/Wiring loom 4. Remove top Cambelt cover 5. Release cambelt tension 6. Undo headbolts Literally that simple! I think I'll enjoy doing this |
