Wow. Err good luck with your Rover! Smile

Who'd nick it though?!

Fair play, they're a decent little shed for the money. The Bodykit is vile though, and those seats look like the seat covers you used to be able to buy from Argos.

Does it 'feel' like 160bhp?

RE: OH M G!!! - Kimmie - 04-06-2013

Just keep Phoebe away from it. He doesn't get on too well with MGs....

RE: OH M G!!! - Danny2009 - 04-06-2013

I don't think there bad cars people say they shit headgaskets and rust but I've had a few rovers the Missis gaz a zr and they have been the most reliable car I've had

Whether or not people want to nick it is up to them but if it reduces my insurance who am I to complain
In terms of power I've yet to fully test it since Im still in the hdi mind-set of 2k - 4k rpm driving, I am changing the spark plugs back to the ngk platinum's that rover spec'd because apparently these engines are a bit funny about the spark plugs and also swapping back to a 52mm throttle soon as possible.

Standard set of lights have been ordered, so I can get them swapped out so I can move a little bit away from being total chavtasic

it was easy to nick CAR, if you didn't have a tracker you could not be insured on these cars as they had a big achilles heel - if you smash the front light and arc the connections the airbag goes off and the car unlocks so is easy to knick

When i worked for the RBS group, they would not touch these without a tracker

RE: OH M G!!! - Midnightclub - 04-06-2013

lmao, if thats true chris thats one of the worst design flaws ever hahahaha

RE: OH M G!!! - devils_fuel - 04-06-2013

Danny..it was in the RBS car insurance t&c's, a quote would not be offered unless they could prove they have a tracker fitted as they had to send the fitting cert along with the proof of NCB lol

RE: OH M G!!! - Midnightclub - 04-06-2013

Damn! haha

RE: OH M G!!! - Eeyore - 04-06-2013

meh...

RE: OH M G!!! - Poodle - 04-06-2013

The insurance haven't done you over on the mods again..?

RE: OH M G!!! - lolsteve - 04-06-2013

To swap to the zr including declaring the exhaust I went up £80, not bad at all really considering the power difference. Although the insurance company didn't care at all that it had a tracking system installed, the guy on the phone pretty much told me not to bother continuing the call.

Took for a spirited drive today and found the car to be a lil sketchy on corners after googling the reviews for the tyres the previous owner put on I can see why http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Sunew/YS618_2.html

RE: OH M G!!! - Curt - 04-06-2013

I don't understand how people can fit that shit to their cars, the importance of tyres seems to be completely missed by most

Haha that reminds me of the old astras. Smash the window (no alarm on them), unplug hazard light switch, flip it upside down, plug back in, push and you have one running astra. Snap steering lock and jobs done!

Didnt know about astras, knew about the novas tho lol.

Anyway, not awful cars, just not far off lol

yeah, you will need some decent rubber, I had to get some decent rubber for traction, wheel spinning from 1st into 2nd gear isn't fun for a sleeper,

RE: OH M G!!! - Curt - 05-06-2013

The whole point of decent rubber isn't just to stop wheel spinz away from the lights lol

well we all know that Tongue

RE: OH M G!!! - Dum-Dum - 05-06-2013

LOL at the tyres, obviously a history of no expense spared maintenance.

RE: OH M G!!! - lolsteve - 05-06-2013

Mmmm, wondering if it's worth throwing some silverlake part worns on instead if they got anything decent in stock rather than have the sidewalls explode on me sunday when I do a 250 mile trip to uni...

RE: OH M G!!! - Curt - 05-06-2013

Part-worn mid range would be better than Chinese shite in my opinion. Maybe have a look on Camskill and see if they have any on offer first

RE: OH M G!!! - lolsteve - 06-06-2013

Just been on tyretraders.com, won't be able to get a new set put on in time for road trip and silverlake doesn't have any part worns only brand new "rapids" for £50 a corner. The other part worn place in Southampton did have 4 tyres with some tread on but they were all different brands and at £35 a corner I'd rather pay the lil bit extra for new. So looks like I'll just cross my fingers and hope they don't explode on the way lol
Anyone heard of these, seems like some good reviews out there and sounds like the makers are aiming to create the new toyo http://www.tyretraders.com/tyreInformation%7CItemID%7CSYR20540R1784WRACE1.html

Changed spark plugs yesterday, however upon attempting to unplug the ht leads it turns out they had gotten rather hot and somewhat melted.
After getting the ht leads off we found some of the spark plugs with oil on them, could be from the oil change the other day/leaking rocker cover?

RE: OH M G!!! - Niall - 06-06-2013

oily spark plugs........bad news.

RE: OH M G!!! - lolsteve - 06-06-2013

Headgasket?

RE: OH M G!!! - Niall - 06-06-2013

Generally piston rings or valve guide seals. Get someone to start it cold whilst you look at the exhaust then leave it idling for a minute or two then pull away. Any small puffs of blue smoke?

Could just be that when you removed the plug, oil has run down it but it looks liberally covered so i wouldn't bet on that!

RE: OH M G!!! - Dum-Dum - 06-06-2013

Those tyres leave them alone, you only like them cos they have race in the name, get something proper.

As for the plugs do me a closer pic of the tip and ill see what I can tell you

Or clean the holes properly and give the new ones a week and see how they come out.

RE: OH M G!!! - Curt - 06-06-2013

Wouldn't even consider an unknown, especially at that price!

These would be my recommendations:

RE: OH M G!!! - Curt - 06-06-2013

They are brilliant, I had them on my previous set of wheels on the Audi.

Hankook are what VW use as standard, pretty good too
